Raw banana/plantain is a yummy vegetable which can be cooked in a variety of ways. One of the simplest one is the following one.

Ingredients
  • Raw plantain - 1, finely chopped
  • Onion - 1, diced
  • Turmeric - 1/8 tsp
  • Red Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil - 1 - 2 tbsp
Procedure
  • Chop the raw banana into small pieces and keep them in a bowl of water.
  • In a kadai, heat oil. Add the banana pieces, onion, turmeric, salt and saute. Occasionally toss the curry. Cook on low-medium flame.
  • When the curry is almost done, add red chilli powder and cook for a couple of minutes.
  • Remove and serve with hot rice.
TIPS
  • Rub a little oil onto your hands before chopping the banana as it can sometimes be kind of sticky. Also take care not to drop the plantain onto your clothes as it can stain it.
  • Place the banana in a bowl of water to avoid discoloring.
  • You may temper the curry if you prefer to.
