As I had mentioned in one of my previous posts, I make greens without adding any masalas. But it still does taste great. Do try this one and see how heavenly food can be without any masalas.
Ingredients
- Green leafy veggie - 1 cup, washed and finely chopped
- Onion - 1 big, diced
- Green Chillies - 2
- Channa Dal / Kadala Parupu / Pachi Senaga Pappu - 1/3 cup boiled.
- Turmeric - 1/8 tsp
- Salt - as required
- Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
- Rice Flour - 1 tsp (to thicken the dal)
To Temper
- Urad Dal - 1 tsp
- Mustard - 1/2 tsp
- Jeera - 1/2 tsp
- Hing - a pinch
Procedure
- In a deep bottom vessel, add the chopped green leaves, onions, slit green chilli, salt, turmeric along with little water and bring it to boil.
- Add the boiled channa dal and boil for another 2 minutes.
- In a small cup, add little water. To this add the rice flour and red chilli powder and mix it without any lumps and add the mixture to the dal.
- Simmer and boil till the gravy thickens.
- Temper the given ingredients and add it to the dal.
- Hot and yummy dal is ready to serve.
TIP
If you notice, I've mentioned to add the rice flour to the water instead of adding water to the rice flour. This way I've found that lumps are not formed while making a paste.
